Celtic sea salt is a 100% natural product, hand-harvested from clay salt pans along the Atlantic coast. Gray, moist, and unrefined, it arrives in your kitchen just as it came from the water, with only one ingredient on the label and no anti-caking agents. The full kilogram.
Why this salt and not supermarket salt
- Unrefined and unbleached: it is not reprocessed after harvesting, so it retains the minerals from the seawater.
- One ingredient: no anti-caking agents, no additives, and no preservatives. The ingredient list is a single line.
- Softer flavor: the irregular crystals dissolve slowly, so the saltiness appears in bites rather than all at once.
- Finishing salt texture: perfect on a tomato with oil, on meat fresh from the grill, or on pan-seared fish.
- Hand-harvested: in shallow ponds, with the sun and wind doing the work and the salt worker removing the crystals with a wooden tool.
How to use it
It works well wherever you want to notice it. Being irregular in grain, it's not the most convenient salt for pasta water or long stews, but it's the one you want for finishing a dish. It's better served from a bowl than a shaker: you pick it up with your fingers and have much better control over how much you add.

Celtic salt or Dead Sea salt
These are two unrefined salts, and many people confuse them. This one is gray, moist, and irregular in grain; the other is white, dry, and fine-grained, and also suitable for bathing. We compare them in detail in this guide for choosing between the two, and if you were interested in the other, you can find it here: Fine Dead Sea Salt 1 kg.
Before you ask
Is it healthier than table salt?
It's still salt, and the sodium content is practically the same. What changes is the processing: this one is unrefined and contains no additives. The World Health Organization recommends not exceeding 5g of salt per day, and that applies to any salt, including this one. We prefer to tell you ourselves.
Why is it moist?
Because it retains seawater between the crystals. This is normal for hand-harvested salt without industrial drying. It has not spoiled.
Does it clump?
Yes, and that's a good sign: it means it doesn't contain anti-caking agents. It crumbles with your fingers.
Does it expire?
Salt does not spoil. It only absorbs moisture, so store it in a dry place with the container sealed.
