Golden Bamboo Matcha Broom

The matcha whisk, made from 100% golden bamboo, is essential for the traditional preparation of matcha tea. Ideally, it should be moved in a Z-shaped motion to combine the matcha powder with the water. The bamboo whisk (Chasen) is handcrafted from a single piece of golden bamboo and has 80 prongs. The matcha tea can be stirred quickly and easily, whisking until frothy.

Each broom is handmade and unique. Only bamboo that is at least two years old is used in its production. Suitable bamboo pieces are cut lengthwise. To make the struts, the inner material is removed. Eighty thin struts are then separated from the firm outer layer.

A threaded end, attached to the end of the struts, provides the necessary grip. The other end of the struts is screwed on with a knife and ground down. As a result, the Chasen is not only sturdy but also offers the fine matcha powder virtually no chance of settling on the surface.
